Colorado National Monument, Moab, and Capitol Reef National Park

I've been to Colorado and Utah many times, but I continue to be blown away every time I return. The geography is so dynamic you find yourself in constant wide-eyed awe while driving from snow covered peaks to the high desert to the canyon walls. There are roads that stretch for miles and miles, as if you might drive right into the horizon. You'll have the road to yourself and with the right playlist on, you can easily escape reality and lose yourself in the boundless beauty. You'll drive through vacant plateaus that will make you feel like you might be the only human alive. But moments later the Colorado River appears meandering through canyon walls and brick-red monoliths. You'll come upon free range cattle leisurely crossing the road, or desert bighorns scaling the canyon walls. Snow covered peaks rise in the distance. You'll see all of this before you even enter our amazing parks and monuments. The changing scenery is captivating and it's the reason I return again and again. Scroll below for some of my favorite places in the region.

Charleston

Charleston's been on the list of the most beautiful cities in the world over and over again. With palmetto-lined cobblestone streets, pastel-colored mansions, and meticulously kept gardens, it's easy to see why. Charleston is a dream for photographers and history buffs alike. Founded in 1670, the town played major roles in the slave trade, the Revolutionary War, and Civil War. Go in the off (travel) season. You'll get vibrant spring colors March through May and cooler temps with smaller crowds September through November. After a day of exploring, enjoy a lowcountry fare at one of their award winning restaurants, after-dinner drinks at a rooftop bar, and a stroll along the harbor. Be sure to peek in the alleys of those charming southern homes. Scroll below for some of our favorite spots in and around the Holy City.
